Family
history
The
Lahdelma family welcomes you to our
farm!
Pertti
Lahdelma is your host. Pertti has run
the farm and looked after the animals
since 1984. He has built all the holiday
homes, partly from wood harvested from
the farm’s own forest. Pertti also
participates in the farm’s tourism
business.
Ritva
Lahdelma has been the hostess on the
farm since 1985. Ritva plans individual
programmes for guests. She worked as a
hairdresser for over 30 years, but now
only styles hair as a hobby!

History
of the farm:
1600:
Mustaniemi Farm established. The farm
cooperative owns the land and fishing
waters, which are marked out and
strictly adhered to. Infringements are
not permitted. Times of unrest in
Finland.
1721:
The Treaty of Nystad (Uusikaupunki) is
signed on 30 August between Russia and
Sweden, heralding an era of peace for
Finland and the end of instability
especially for Pertunmaa. The Russian
border was situated only a few
kilometres to the east of Mustaniemi
Farm, which is granted 8 years of
indemnity from taxes.
1735:
The Mustaniemi and Ahvenniemi farms are
used for billeting soldiers, who
belonged to the Sysmä Company of the
Hämeenlinna District Infantry Regiment.
1750:
Tuomas Tuomaanpoika Mustonen attempts to
evict his brother Erkki from the farm
and claim it for himself.
1760:
The case is heard in the parliament and
Tuomas is fined. Erkki is granted half
of Mustaniemi Farm, now known as
Jussila. The farmland also included four
crofts.
1896:
The current family takes over the farm
and is now in its fourth generation. The
farm was split among siblings in 1950,
creating the neighbouring farm of
Niemelä.
1980:
The farm begins offering country
holidays. These operations are expanded
and improved upon each year.
2008: A
great leap forward is taken with the
establishment of a separate family-owned
company, Lahdelman Lomat Oy, to run
holiday activities.
